Four stages of this route
This way marked trail almost starts on the runway of Dublin airport. We started more south, in Tinahaly, and walked back direction Dublin.
Getting there: a flight to Dublin. From Dublin airport by bus to the train station, the train to Rathdrum, and finally the bus to Tinahaly.
Maps: The Ordnance Survey of Ireland, nr. 56 en 62, 1:50.000. The route is well marked. The entire trail is 130 km. and begins - or ends - in Clonagal, county Carlow.
Accommodation: B&B’s and guesthouses. There are plenty of them. The owner will arrange your next B&B, if necessary.
March 1998: a part of the Wicklow-way.
Height on the trail: 100-630m.
Distance between the stage cities: 2025 km.
Day 1: Tinahaly - Aghavannagh
Day 2: Aghavannagh - Laragh
Day 3: Laragh - Roundwood
Day 4: Roundwood - Enniskerry
In Enniskerry the bus to Dublin train station and here the bus to the airport.
Tinahaly Djouce Mountain Lough Tay
On trail: Irish green, the Ow river, the Glannmalure valley, the round tower of Laragh, the beautiful Lough Tay and the splendid cross at Djouce Mountain. Through “a patchwork of many different landscape types”. Some truly remote upland areas.
A beautiful board walk across Djouce Mountain at the end of the trail.
Just do it!
